Manchester City host 19th placed West Brom on Wednesday night as they continue to battle on all four fronts.

The Blues are 12 points clear with 14 games to go and, with Manchester United facing Tottenham at the same time, they could stretch their lead even further with a win.

Alan Pardew’s side have only won three games so far this season, but the reverse fixture saw City worried in the early stages before pushing on to a 2-3 victory.

Now or never: Sergio Aguero game time may become limited if he doesn’t perforn with Gabriel Jesus returning in the next couple of weeks.

Key battles

Aguero v Hegazi

Jonny Evans won’t be fit to face the side who were considering a bid for him the past two transfer windows, so it will be Ahmed Hegazi’s responsibility to organise the visitors.

It’s been proven that a tight, resilient defence can frustrate Guardiola’s men and their fans, but only three times have taken points from City this season, so it’ll take something special.

Aguero has eight goals in his last seven games in all competitions and has proved a consistent run in the team was all he needed to regain his form, but can it continue?

Silva v Barry

The Premier League’s most experienced player will return to his former club to stop his old teammates from continuing their parade towards the league title.

Barry knows all about David Silva’s capabilities, and he realises how important it is to prevent him from getting a grip of the game, but the issue is how to stop him.

Silva’s electric form at the start of December has slowed down recently, directly contributing to only one goal in his last five games, but matches against deep-lying defenders are just the Spaniard’s cup of tea.

Who to pick

Sergio Aguero will be licking his lips at the prospect of a West Brom defence on Wednesday.

Aside from his impressive goal tally, the Argentine’s work rate has transformed over the past month, making him more likely to pick up assists too.

It won’t be long until Gabriel Jesus returns to match fitness and Aguero is flung between the starting XI and the bench, so make sure you pick him before his game time decreases again.

Who to avoid

Unsettled: Danilo has fallen behind a 29-year-old central-midfielder and a youth prospect at left-back by Pep.
Unsettled: Danilo has fallen behind a 29-year-old central-midfielder and a youth prospect at left-back by Pep.

Oleksandr Zinchenko assumed the left-back position against Newcastle in the last Gameweek, suggesting Danilo is not trusted by his manager.

To play another natural midfielder rather than him will have been a major disappointment for the Brazilian, who does not seem to have settled in at City.

Luckily, you can change your team all the way until kick-off on Yahoo Daily Fantasy, so you could see who starts at left-back before deciding whether to stick Danilo in your starting XI or not.

Who to watch

Sane’s injury provides Silva lining: Bernardo Silva could get an extended run of games in the lineup now Sane will miss a month of football at City.
Sane’s injury provides Silva lining: Bernardo Silva could get an extended run of games in the lineup now Sane will miss a month of football at City.

Bernado Silva (£14) has improved with every game recently, and now that Leroy Sane will be out for over a month, he will see even more minutes.

The 23-year-old’s ability to play as a false nine or on either side of a front three makes him a great fit for Guardiola’s fluid attack, and he will prove it.

If City use him against West Brom, the ex-Monaco midfielder could become a mainstay in your team for the next few contests.
