Manchester United: Erik ten Hag offers injury update on Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen
Manchester United face a nervous wait as they assess injury blows sustained by Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen against Luton.
The Danish duo both started at Old Trafford on Saturday as Victor Lindelof's strike on the hour mark spared the under-fire Erik ten Hag's blushes and earned a crucial 1-0 win in the Premier League.
However, experienced playmaker Eriksen was forced off five minutes before half-time against Luton due to an apparent knee problem, while striker Hojlund was again unable to register his first top-flight goal for United and sustained what looked like a hamstring injury late on.
The headline summer signing received treatment from physios before being replaced 10 minutes from time by Anthony Martial and heading straight down the tunnel.
Quizzed on Hojlund's injury after the game, Ten Hag told reporters: “In this moment I can’t say anything about it because we don’t know.
“We do an assessment but have to wait 24 hours to see what is the problem, if there is a problem.”
Ten Hag added that Eriksen had not twisted his knee as first thought, but rather had slipped and will require a similar assessment to that of Hojlund.
"No, he slipped but it is the same," the manager said. "We have to do an assessment, a diagnosis and then the conclusion.”
Constant injury strife has compounded United's struggles on the pitch so far this season, with Ten Hag confirming before the win over Luton that Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro would both be sidelined until the New Year.
Jonny Evans has also been lost for several weeks with a hamstring injury, with the likes of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still out along with Amad Diallo.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka recently returned from his own hamstring injury but missed the Luton game through illness, while Jadon Sancho remains unavailable for selection with reports suggesting that he is likely to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window following his feud with the boss.
