Matteo Darmian looks likely to stay at Manchester United, despite interest from Serie A clubs, his agent has revealed.

The Italian defender had been in and out of the squad under Jose Mourinho, however, has fallen well out of favour in recent weeks.

His omission from the squad has led to rumours circling around a return to his home country. However, the full-back’s agent Tullio Tinti has revealed he’s set to stay put at Old Trafford.

“I haven’t had any calls from Roma for the player,” Tinti told Rete Sport.

“There has been contact with other Serie A teams, but not with the Giallorossi. For the moment the lad isn’t for sale.”

Mourinho has been linked with a number of full-backs in the January window, and recently claimed that he had not spent enough on his squad in the summer.

“It is not enough,” Mourinho said when it was put to him that he had invested nearly £300m since taking over.

“And the price for the big clubs, the price for the big clubs is different from the other clubs. So the big, historical clubs are normally punished in the market for that history.”
