Man United XI vs Villarreal: Starting lineup, team news, Europa League Final squad, injury updates today
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been named among the substitutes for tonight’s Europa League Final against Villarreal.
Maguire sustained ankle ligament damage during United’s 3-1 win at Aston Villa on May 9, and has been sidelined since.
The centre-back missed United’s final game of the season at Wolves on Sunday, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered a realistic assessment that he was unlikely to be ready to play against Villarreal in Gdansk this evening.
Maguire was expected to likely try and take some part in the final pre-match training session on Tuesday night, but he ended up sitting out. He is on the bench tonight, but it remains to be seen whether or not he is fit to feature at all.
Eric Bailly will partner Victor Lindelof at centre-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw at full-back.
In goal, Dean Henderson has become the No1 goalkeeper meaning David De Gea has taken on cup duties, so the Spaniard starts here.
In midfield, Scott McTominay was a slight doubt but is fit to start and he’s joined in the middle by Paul Pogba, rather than regular partner Fred.
Further ahead, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood all start in support of Edinson Cavani in what looks an attacking line-up.
