Manchester United XI vs Wolves: Varane and Sancho start; lineup, team news, latest injury updates for Premier League

Manchester United will have to wait for Cristiano Ronaldo’s second debut as the squad today face Wolves.

On the Friday before the game at Molineux, United announced they had agreed a deal with Juventus for Ronaldo to rejoin the Red Devils in another sensational summer transfer signing but the player is yet to finalise the move so will be registered during the international break,

United kicked off the Premier League season with a 5-1 rout of Leeds, but some of the optimism for the new campaign dissipated as they came unstuck with a disappointing 1-1 draw at Southampton.

The Red Devils looked disjointed in that clash on the south coast, but Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho start this afternoon.

Scott McTominaey misses out having had groin surgery earlier this week and joins goalkeeper Dean Henderson (recovering from coronavirus), full-back Alex Telles (ankle) and striker Marcus Rashford (shoulder), as well as long-term absentee Phil Jones (knee), on the sidelines.

With Edinson Cavani still lacking match fitness and Anthony Martial unimpressive leading the line last time out, Mason Greenwood will play up front with Sancho, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in support.
