Marcus Rashford is being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium after it was revealed that Manchester United are not against letting him leave the club this summer.

Rashford endured a difficult campaign with the Red Devils, scoring just eight goals and providing five assists in 43 games. United finished the season in eighth place, but did qualify for the Europa League thanks to an FA Cup triumph.

Our friends at the Manchester Evening News report that Rashford and his agent brother are set for talks with the United hierarchy over his future at the club. United sources insist their preference would be to keep Rashford and help him to regain the form of his 30-goal season in 2022-23.

However, the club have not dismissed the possibility of allowing Rashford to leave after his relationship deteriorated with manager Erik ten Hag last season. Rashford only signed a new contract with the Red Devils last summer, meaning he will not come cheap.

Rashford has been linked with a move to Arsenal on more than one occasion in the past and has been tipped for a move to north London again. A number of former Arsenal players have spoken about him in the past. Here takes a look at what they have said...

Emmanuel Petit

"I know Kai Havertz has improved massively at Arsenal, but it’s difficult to say whether Arteta could do the same with Rashford if he moved to the club," he told Boyle Sports. "However, I have no doubt that Rashford needs a new start and I think Arsenal could be perfect for him. We all know the quality of Rashford for what he’s done in years at Man United, but everyone questioned Havertz and his position when he moved from Chelsea.

"Would Rashford be good at Arsenal? Give me the paper, and let me sign it for him right now! Rashford in a good environment would be incredible for the Gunners as they all look miserable at United. I saw what happened with the fan and I understand his frustration, so if Rashford wants to leave, he’s more than welcome at Arsenal and the door is open for him.

"Havertz was in a strange environment at Chelsea and he wasn’t happy, but he has smiled at Arsenal and I can finally see his teeth - I want that for Rashford."

Bacary Sagna

"I would love to see Marcus Rashford at Arsenal," Sagna told CoinPoker. "I think if you added Rashford to Arsenal’s attack, with the pace that he has, Arsenal would destroy the opposition. Adding Rashford to an extremely talented squad would be a frightening prospect for Arsenal’s rivals.

"Rashford is so quick. I think Arsenal having Rashford would enable Arsenal to have more variety in attack and I would love to see Gabriel Jesus and Marcus Rashford in the same team, pressing with so much intensity. It would be a brilliant capture and I think there is room in the squad for a player of Rashford’s ability because Gabriel Jesus won’t be able to play every game and Kai Havertz can also play in a number of roles. Rashford joining Arsenal would be a wonderful signing for the club and a real statement of ambition."

David Seaman

"People have suggested he could leave Manchester United, but if it was me, I would stay. They haven’t had the best of seasons – aside from winning the FA Cup, which is a real positive – but it’s a massive club.

"Clubs don’t come much bigger, except maybe Real Madrid or Barcelona, but you don’t join those clubs unless you’re playing well. He needs to regain his form for United. It’s been one season on, one season off for him, which means next season should be a good one!"
