Arsenal have had a quiet summer transfer window thus far, but the Gunners could be set for a busy July as Mikel Arteta tries to bolster his squad. As of yet, there has been no first-team additions at the Emirates, though that has not stopped the rumours and gossip from flowing in.

It's understood that the Gunners want to sign a new centre forward this summer and have outlined that as their priority position to strengthen. Benjamin Sesko had been linked with a move to north London before he committed his future to RB Leipzig and signed a new five-year deal. Meanwhile, others such as Joshua Zirkzee, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Ivan Toney have emerged as alternative options.

Although he is not a recognised No.9, someone else who could be a summer option is Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. Mikel Arteta met with Rashford back in May about a possible move to Arsenal and has been long linked with a move to the Gunners, despite signing a new long-term contract last summer. It was said that both parties are open to a deal being agreed.

Now, it has emerged that United have not ruled out the possibility of allowing Rashford to leave amid a possible adjustment to his representation. Manchester Evening News reports that Rashford's brother, Dwaine Maynard, has held discussions with an agency to potentially assist in managing the United forward.

Although the Red Devils would prefer to keep Rashford, they have not dismissed the opportunity of him departing Old Trafford this summer. This could open the door and give Arsenal the green light to strengthen their forward line with the signing of Rashford, who can play in multiple different roles across the front line.

Rashford would no doubt give Arteta another option and someone with proven Premier League quality. There will be some doubters considering his drastic drop off in form last season, but it should not be forgotten that Rashford scored 30 goals in 56 appearances for United in 2022/23.

If Arteta can get Rashford back to that level - or in previous years when he was one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League - then Arsenal would have a special player on their hands. Rashford is no doubt someone Arsenal should be looking to sign - and that would give Arteta a dream number of options to chose from. Rashford can also play off the left and through the middle, giving them extra versatility.

Due to Kai Havertz's form at the back end of last season, if Rashford did make the move to the Emirates, he would be starting out on the left, with Bukayo Saka on the right and Havertz through the middle. That would leave Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard as second-choice options.

Many Premier League clubs would snap your hand off for that front three, let alone those the Gunners could call on from the bench. Rashford could be the difference between Arsenal going all the way or not for the Premier League title this season, he is that influential when at his best.
