Martin Dubravka joins Celtic goalkeeper list as Austrian defender also 'targeted'

Celtic literally have a full shopping list of goalkeeping options as they look to replace Joe Hart in the transfer market.

Martin Dubravka is the latest name they are reportedly looking at with the 35-year-old set to leave Newcastle. The Slovak played regularly for the Toon at the end of last season with Nick Pope injured, but with Pope ahead of him and Eddie Howe eyeing a move for James Trafford, he will be allowed to leave.

The Daily Record is now reporting that Brendan Rodgers believes Dubravka can come in and perform similarly to Hart over the past few seasons. It's claimed, however, that clubs in Saudi Arabia may offer him a lucrative alternative while others in Europe are also keen.

Football Scotland told you last week how Peter Vindahl Jensen is another serious option for the goalkeeping vacancy with Celts chiefs already having opened talks with his club Sparta Prague

Meanwhile, Sky Sports Germany say Celtic are looking at Austrian defender Flavius Daniliuc, who will play for his country at Euro 2024. The centre-back, 23, has been on loan at RB Salzburg in his homeland from Serie B side Salternitana.

He is likely to leave the Italians permanently this summer and while Salzburg have an option to take him permanently, the Hoops are hoping to swoop if that doesn't happen. Daniliuc is a former teammate of Nicolas Kuhn from when the pair played in Bayern Munich's reserves together. He also had a spell in France with Nice before heading to Italy.
