Mar. 1—VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — The North Vermillion boys basketball team was able to put things together at the right time.

The Falcons started off with a 19-6 first quarter lead and was able to get a 52-40 win over Faith Christian on Friday in an IHSAA Class 1A sectional semifinal at Fountain Central High School.

Jerome White led North Vermillion with 17 points, while Matthew Dawson had 13, Cody Tryon had nine, Owen Edwards had eight and Teegan Dowers added five.

The Falcons will take on Rossville in today's sectional championship. The Hornets beat host Fountain Central 60-44.

Issac Gayler had 20 points to lead the Mustangs, while Gabe McCollum had 11, Koby Wolf had seven and Owen Acton added six.

In an IHSAA Class 2A sectional semifinal, Covington lost to Carroll 63-49 at Lafayette Jefferson High School.

DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College men's basketball team made the most of its final home game of the season on Wednesday, beating Spoon River College 72-51.

Most of the scoring for the Jaguars was from the bench as Trevin Williams had 16 points to lead the team, while JaeSean Martin had 11 points, Dredon Nunn and Payton Weemer each had 10 points, Darius Davis had nine points with four assists and three steals and Lorenzo McMillion had seven points with seven rebounds and two blocks.

DACC will finish the regular season on Saturday with a game against Lincoln Land Community College on the road.

DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College women's basketball team had one of its most dominant wins of the season on Wednesday with a 82-39 win over Spoon River College in its final home game of the season.

Rylee Dowers had 22 points with seven rebounds, six steals and four assists for the Lady Jaguars, while Keiara Gregory had 19 points, Jayla Greer had 14 point, Stephanie Stephen had nine points and nine rebounds off the bench, Jillisa Briggs had eight points and 14 rebounds and Julissa Danglade had six points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Jaguars will finish the regular season on Saturday on the road against Lincoln Land Community College.
