Celtic will reportedly demand a Scottish record-breaking £33.8million for Matt O'Riley this summer.

Hoops playmaker O'Riley, 23, is widely expected to leave Parkhead this summer as clubs across Europe circle for his signature. O'Riley has recorded 27 goals and 34 assists across a trophy-laden two-and-a-half seasons in Glasgow and is under contract until summer 2027.

But Celts are braced for big-money bids for the Denmark international - who narrowly missed out on a Euro 2024 call-up - over the coming weeks. Atletico Madrid are huge admirers of the ex-MK Dons midfielder, who joined Celtic for a bargain £1.5million in January 2022.

The Spanish heavyweight had a bid said to be around £17m thrown out by Parkhead chiefs in the winter window as Brendan Rodgers' side chased a domestic Double. But after helping the Glasgow giants to title and Scottish Cup glory, the Scottish champions could decide to cash in on their prized asset ahead of the new campaign.

Respected Spanish outlet AS claims that Parkhead chiefs have slapped an eye-watering £33.8m price tag on O'Riley, which would see him shatter the Scottish transfer record set by Kieran Tierney's £25m switch to Arsenal in 2019.
