Harry Kane is already on course to become a Tottenham legend, according to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Kane has firmly established himself as a key figure at White Hart Lane in recent years, finishing the last two seasons as the club's top scorer.

The 23-year-old is expected to repeat the feat this term after scoring a hat-trick in Sunday's 4-0 rout of Stoke to take his tally for the campaign to 22.

Kane is a firm fans' favourite in N17 and, having committed his long-term future to Spurs, Pochettino sees no reason why he cannot be referred to alongside club greats in the future.

"I think Harry has the profile to be a legend here," Pochettino insisted.

"Maybe he has started to be a legend with all the goals that he is scoring, how he behaves, how professional he is.

"He has a perfect profile to be a Tottenham legend. He's one of the best [in the world] and I'm very pleased for him. He deserves it - he's a top man."

Kane appears to be a manager's dream as he is rarely seen to make a fuss and boasts an unwavering professional attitude.

But Pochettino has suggested Kane also possesses a fiery streak that spurs him on to improve.

"He has his character. Sometimes he argues with me, sometimes he is upset with me, sometimes he is happy.

"He has a strong character," Pochettino added.

Meanwhile, Kane's exploits against the Potters have seen him installed as the new favourite to win the Premier League Golden boot this season.
