George McEachran has joined League Two rivals Grimsby Town following his departure from Swindon Town at the end of last season.

The 23-year-old has become the latest of the players Town released following their worst-ever season to find a new home as he makes the move to Blundell Park.

McEachran joined the club in February 2023, brought in by his former Chelsea academy boss Jody Morris.

The Under-17 World Cup winner scored one goal and got six assists in his 58 Swindon appearances, although was one of 11 players to leave at the end of last season.

McEachran joins up with Dave Artell at Grimsby as Grimsby look to improve on last season, where they finished two places below Swindon in 21st.

In the statement announcing his signing, the midfielder said: “I had a call with David and I like the sound of the things that he was saying, the things that he wants me to do for the team and the things he expects. Hopefully, I’ll settle here quickly and show people what I can do on the pitch.

“I played 39 games last season, so I know a bit about the league. It’s a tough league but hopefully, we can do well this season and push on.”
