MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: DACC advances to Region semifinals

Mar. 7—DANVILLE — Sophomore Ryan Caddell sank two free throws with 8.1 seconds remaining to clinch a semifinal berth for the Danville Area Community College Jaguars in the NJCAA Region 24 Tournament.

With the 56-52 victory over the Lincoln Land Community Loggers at the Mary Miller Gymnasium, DACC advances to play top-seeded Parkland in Saturday's 1 p.m. semifinal contest to be played at Rend Lake College in Ina. The Cobras advanced with a 108-48 win over Lewis & Clark College.

Sophomore Terrence Ringo led the way for the Jaguars (18-11) with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Caddell finished with 11 points.

Lincoln Land, which beat DACC 70-53 in the regular-season finale on Saturday, had only one player in double figures as Camren Kincaid had a game-high 23.

In the other quarterfinal games on Wednesday night, second-seeded Illinois Central College defeated Spoon River College 70-64 and third-seeded John Wood Community College downed Rend Lake College 75-61. The Cougars and the Trail Blazers will meet in Saturday's second semifinal at 3 p.m.
