MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: DACC upsets Parkland

Jan. 17—CHAMPAIGN — The Danville Area Community College men's basketball team got its biggest win of the season on Wednesday, beating No. 4 Parkland College 81-79.

Payton Weemer had 19 points with five rebounds off the bench to lead the Jaguars, while Jaylen Simmons had 14 points, five assists and two steals, Jameer Ajibade had 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals, Ryan Caddell had 12 points with three assists, and Martez Rhodes added 11 points.

Tye Banks had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Cobras, who was up 39-37 at halftime, while Drew Lewis Jr. had 18 points, Brylan Philips had 17 points and Issac Mapson added 14 points.

The Jaguars are now 9-6 and 1-1 in the Mid-West Athletic Conference and will return to Mary Miller Gym on Saturday to play Lewis & Clark College.
