Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta looks set to require funds from exits before making any new signings in this summer's transfer window. The Gunners, following on from a £200million spend 12 months ago, must now be careful to continue complying with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

As a result of their financial worries, Arsenal look set to try and oversee a major rebuild of their squad depth with several players potentially up for sale. Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Oleksandr Zinchenko are just a few stars that could depart after struggling for minutes in the 2023/24 season.

The Gunners could be tempted to offer a number of those players in a swap deal for Douglas Luiz after learning of Aston Villa's transfer stance. Alternatively, just obtaining funds will be a priority with Smith Rowe of interest to Fulham, Zinchenko being tracked by Bayern Munich and Nketiah linked to several Premier League clubs.

Returning loanees could also generate some windfall with Kieran Tierney and Albert Sambi Lokonga two that could depart permanently. According to the Sunday Post, via Metro, the north Londoners would listen to offers in the region of £10million with the 27-year-old out of contract in 2026.

However, Arteta will be hoping the club can increase that asking price with Tierney set to play for Scotland at this summer's European championships. A superb display by Tierney against Spain earlier this year got people talking and a few more displays like that, starting with the tournament's opening game against hosts Germany, would be a welcome boost for Arsenal.

While Tierney was in the midst of his loan spell at Real Sociedad, he delivered an update on his future which saw him make a telling admission. "There is every chance," he said when asked by the Athletic if he had played his final game for the Gunners.

"Look at the squad depth in that position now. They have Zinchenko, Timber, Tomiyasu, Kiwior. Four players can play there. So if I go back and it’s the same as before then I’m not silly, I know the chances are I’ll be leaving.

"But you never know in football. You get the rare case with [William] Saliba, where he came back after a couple of good seasons [out on loan] but you don’t see it too often with someone who has played for four years, left, and then come back to play again.

"Stranger things have happened. I could go back and there is a place for me. So I’m prepared for both."
