Mikel Arteta looks to have finally been given the green light to complete his two-year Arsenal transfer mission. The Gunners boss has revolutionised his former club in recent seasons with several astute signings made before a £200million summer splurge 12 months ago.

Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz were all acquired on permanent deals ahead of the 2023/24 season. David Raya later joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford with a £27m buy-option to be activated and made official over the coming weeks.

As a result of those big moves, Arteta and Edu will have to be careful to ensure Arsenal comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) when aiming to improve their squad. With the summer transfer window opening at the end of this week, several Premier League clubs are making big moves with one of those possibly handing Arsenal a major boost.

With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours...

Wolves transfer opens door for Neto

Rodrigo Gomes is set to join Wolves from Portuguese side SC Braga in a €15m (£12.7m) deal to help bolster Gary O'Neil's attacking options. During the January transfer window, O'Neil was unable to strengthen his frontline due to financial concerns and if those remain prominent, selling a key star to balance the funds again after buying Gomes may need to be done.

Arsenal are long-term admirers of Pedro Neto with interest dating back to 2022. Injuries have often gotten in the way of a potential transfer, but that could change this summer.

football.london says: "Neto did miss large parts of the latest campaign through more injury issues but the chance is there for Arsenal. Signing some cover for Bukayo Saka is important and Neto's stock decreasing could allow Arteta and Edu to finally act.

"Continuing to comply with PSR is a priority for Wolves and thus they could feel forced to sell Neto at a reduced price. Despite two injuries, the Portugal international still managed 14 goal contributions from 24 appearances where he played a total of 1,729 minutes.

"With it unlikely he is given a consistent starting role, the fitness problems will not overly be an issue especially if they can sign him for a lower fee than the previous £60m asking price."

Sesko decision to come soon

Arsenal will be eagerly awaiting a transfer answer from RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners, Chelsea and Manchester United are all in the race to sign the Slovenia international and though he is yet to make a final decision on his future, that looks set to change in the near future.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, when discussing Sesko on his Here We Go podcast, a decision on his next club will be made very soon.

football.london says: "Sesko's priority will likely be Slovenia's Euro 2024 campaign which kicks off in a few days, so it does seem to be odd timing to communicate his transfer decision.

"However, the 20-year-old may be keen to prevent more rumours circulating during the tournament which could prove a distraction. Other updates have suggested that any interested club will only activate his £55m release clause if they are given guarantees, and therefore actually agreeing a deal would be rather simple.

"Considering Arteta's desire to get deals done early into the window, Arsenal will be hoping to be Sesko's chosen destination."
