Milford boys rally past Morris 75-66 in TVL shootout

Jan. 17—A big fourth-quarter rally allowed the Milford boys to defeat Morris 75-66 in Wednesday's Tri-Valley League contest that saw the two sides combine for 22 three-pointers.

After trailing for most of the game, the Wildcats outscored the Mustangs 27-11 in the final quarter to secure the comeback.

Christian Lawson and Braden Murphy led the way in the victory as each scored 27 points, with Murphy hitting six three-pointers.

Evan Carter added nine points for Milford.

For Morris, Asa Dugan made eight threes to finish with a team-best 26 points. Tiger Ross and Carter Sawyer finished with 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Milford will host Worcester this Saturday while Morris will travel to Edmeston Friday.

Cooperstown 79, Sauquoit Valley 71

Cooperstown held off Sauquoit Valley 79-71 in Wednesday's high-scoring Center State Conference game.

Charlie Lambert finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks for the Hawkeyes while Cooper Bradley also had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds to go with seven blocks.

Brody Murdock and Cooper Coleman added 16 and 11 points, respectively.

James Henck scored a game-high 28 points for Sauquoit Valley.

Cooperstown (8-6 overall, 3-2 league) will be at Hamilton Friday.

Seton Catholic 67, Oneonta 49

Oneonta was unable to hang on to a first-quarter lead in Wednesday's 67-49 road loss to Seton Catholic.

Brady Carr scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Yellowjackets while Britten Zeh and Makya Morrison added 11 and 10, respectively.

Allan Eagles and John Hopf each scored 17 points for Seton Catholic.

Oneonta (6-5) will host Maine-Endwell Monday.

WRESTLING

The Oneonta wrestling team split a pair of matches at the Section IV Dual Meet Tournament Wednesday, defeating Newark Valley 35-33 and falling to top-ranked Tioga 66-6.

Clayton Ritter (101 pounds), Isaac Gray (131) and Reilly Waltz (170) each won by pin for OHS against Newark Valley. Alan Little (145) and Nason Renne (285) won their matches by decision and Marshall Mahar (108) won by technical fall.

The Yellowjackets will face Deposit-Hancock Thursday for their Senior Night.

The Cooperstown/Milford wrestling team edged Dolgeville 42-36 in Wednesday's dual meet.

Winning by pin for C/M were Max Koffer at 116 pounds, Matthew Perrino at 215 and Max Sharf at 285.

C/M will be in Mount Markham Friday for the Mustang Duals.
