Albion’s new Japanese international has revealed she fulfilled two top targets before heading to the WSL.

Kiko Seike will link up with the Seagulls’ after playing for her country in the forthcoming Olympics.

The 27-year-old arrives from Urawa Reds, having helped them win the title last season as the WE League’s top-scorer and player of the year.

Seike revealed she knew she would be heading overseas at the end of the campaign and was determined to go out in style.

Speaking at the league awards night, she said: “I was hoping to be the top scorer, MVP winner and bring the title to the club before my departure.

“I’m happy to have achieved that and want to thank my team-mates."

Albion are rebuilding for the new season and are likely to have a new-look attacking unit.

Top scorer Elisabeth Terland is out of contract while wide players Katie Robinson and Veatriki Sarri have left the club.

Seike has a strong background in 15 years with Urawa Reds as well as 21 international appearances.

Zoe Johnson, Albion’s managing director of women’s and girls’ football, said: “She comes to us with a lot of experience at the highest level in Japan, which has earned her a well-deserved place in the Olympic squad this upcoming tournament.

“We look forward to working with Kiko and seeing her career develop in the WSL.”

Seike’s 20 league goals last term was at least nine more than any other player in the league.
