Mixed weekend of action for Taunton St Andrews cricket teams

On Saturday, Taunton St Andrews First XI were in action against Bridgwater for the fourth time this season, on this occasion in the WEPL Premier One at the Wyvern Club.

After choosing to bat, the visitors posted 306 for eight, the feature of which was 106 from Jacob Lintott which came off 126 balls and included 13 fours.

Alex Eckland made 83 off 52 balls and Charlie Sharland made 50 off 52.

Jack Harding, with three for 48 from eight overs, was the pick of the bowlers, while George Thomas claimed two for 60.

The Saints' reply got off to a good start thanks to Cam Harding, who made 34.

George Thomas then came to the wicket and scored 39, staying to see the score onto 132 before he was the fifth wicket to fall.

After this, only Will Christophers with 21 offered much resistance as the hosts were all out for 178 in the 49th over.

In the Somerset Cricket League Premier Division, Saints Second XI were in action at Butleigh.

The team, batting first, were all out for 199 in 41.5 overs with Nathan Dimond taking three for 42 from his six overs.

In addition, there were two wickets apiece for Toby Pattemore, Joe Wadham and Justin Burke.

When the visitors replied, they reached 203 for six in the 42nd over, Dan Godfrey top scoring with 45, Jordan Clapp hitting 33 while Henry Graydon was unbeaten on 41.

In SCL Division Four, the Saints B side travelled to play at West Coker and Hardington.

Batting first, they scored 233 all out, with opener Freddie Woolcott making 41, Warner 47 and Sapiecha 38.

In reply, the hosts were bowled out for 157 in 37 overs.

Sapiecha rounded off a good afternoon with five for 28.

In Division Seven (Red), Saints A hosted Staplegrove Seconds and, batting first, posted 287 for six from their 40 overs.

The highlight was Nick Bennetts 100, his first century for the club, while Andrew Batstone made 59.

Staplegrove, in reply, were bowled out for 157, of which Matt Dunn made 38 and Grant Arden hit 23.

For the Saints, Finlay Hedges claimed four for 33 from his eight overs.

The Saints' junior teams have all enjoyed success this season, including the Under 11s whose side includes players from years three to six, many experiencing hard ball cricket for the first time.

To date, the Saints Under 11s have won four of their games and, on Sunday, enjoyed a good away win at Over Stowey where they scored 252 for nine and limited the hosts to 211 for eight.
