Mohamed Salah actions before Egypt FA's official statement sums Liverpool ace up best

Mohamed Salah has become embroiled in another substitution row following his touchline spat with Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool ace scored the only goal for Egypt during the 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau.

But his effort was blighted by the controversy surrounding Salah after the game. It had previously been suggested that Egyptian boss Hossam Hassan intended to make two changes in the latter stages of the game, although only ended up making one.

Speculation has since emerged that Mostafa Fathi, who was forced to sit back down on the substitutes bench for the remainder of the game, was meant to replace Salah - until the Liverpool star allegedly 'refused' to come off the pitch.

The Egyptian FA has since rejected the claims in a statement which read: “There is absolutely no truth to the rumours that Mohamed Salah refused to leave the pitch. Salah was not going to be substituted off in the first place. Hossam Hassan was content with only bringing on Nasser Maher.”

Yet what he did before the situation unfolded encapsulates what he offers each team he plays for perfectly. With the score-line sat at 1-0 to Guinea-Bissau, the Liverpool legend cut inside onto his stronger left foot and curled an inch-perfect shot into the top corner.

It was a vintage Salah goal from a player who will be entering the final year of his deal at Anfield this summer. It also offered a reminder to new boss Arne Slot about what he remains capable of despite being on the wrong side of 30.

Back in April, TV cameras caught a heated exchange between Salah and Klopp at the London Stadium during the draw with West Ham. The Liverpool boss was in the process of bringing Salah on, after initially leaving him on the bench to start the game, when the argument broke out. Salah then refused to speak to the waiting media at full time warning 'there would be fire'.

Liverpool.com says: With 18 goals and 10 assists to his name in the Premier League last season, it is clear that Salah is still capable of reaching top levels of performance. Slot will have a decision to make regarding the winger but given his preference for wide players who can impact the game in the final third - it seems a no-brainer that Salah will extend his stay on Merseyside.
