West Brom Fan View: Moore firmly in new manager discussion

Surely ‘Big Dave’ is now in the frame for the permanent manager role?
Surely ‘Big Dave’ is now in the frame for the permanent manager role?

With every passing week, the decision not to replace Alan Pardew until the 2nd April becomes more and more frustrating for Albion fans. After Darren Moore’s time in the West Brom hot-seat brings yet another great result, The Baggies still have hope of pulling off the greatest of escapes.

It’s incredibly unlikely; Swansea would have to draw with Southampton next weekend and then lose their remaining three games, Southampton would have to earn a maximum of one point from their remaining two games and Stoke would have win a maximum of four points in their last two games. More importantly, West Brom would have to get maximum points against Tottenham (H) and Crystal Palace (A).

All these permutations are slightly beside the point though, because the appointment of Darren Moore has given fans what we’ve wanted all along: hope. ‘Big Dave’ has brought freshness and optimism to a club which was full of despair and misery under the reigns of Tony Pulis and latterly, Alan Pardew.

When you combine this off-the-field impact with the results and performances he’s acheived on the pitch, Moore has put himself well into contention to become the manager on a full-time basis. His back-to-basics approach has wielded as many points as Alan Pardew achieved in his tenure, in 14 fewer games!

He’s also helped players like Matt Phillips and Jake Livermore, who looked completely out of sorts under Pardew, but now look full of confidence. Livermore’s great pass to Phillips, which the Scot then finished superbly to seal the win against Newcastle on Saturday, showed how much they’ve improved.

If that’s the case, why not take the gamble on Moore?</span>
