A KEY member of Morton's first-team squad has committed to a new contract with the Cappielow side - extending his five-year stay in Greenock.

Midfielder Cameron Blues has put pen to paper on a two-year deal to remain with Dougie Imrie's men until 2026.

The 26-year-old joined the Ton back in 2019 and has gone on to make more than 150 appearances, with the new deal taking Blues into his seventh year with the club.

A mainstay in the starting line-up, Blues made 47 appearances last season, scoring twice and playing an important part in the team's memorable run to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, as well as progression in the League Cup and a fifth place finish in the Championship.

The announcement will come as a welcome boost for fans ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window and the potential departure of several stars.

League rivals Partick Thistle last night confirmed the pre-contract signing of Robbie Crawford, while Ayr United have reportedly registered an interest in taking forward George Oakley, and top scorer Robbie Muirhead has joined Livingston.

Contracts for Calum Waters, Jai Quitongo, Lewis McGrattan, Alan Power and Jamie MacDonald were not renewed, with talks ongoing with Kirk Broadfoot, club captain Grant Gillespie, wideman Michael Garrity, centre half Darragh O'Connor.

The Tele revealed last week how left back Lewis Strapp looks poised to leave after being offered reduced terms.

Incoming Welsh goalscorer Jordan Davies will join the Ton's other current contracted players for the 2024/25 season: Ryan Mullen, Iain Wilson, Logan O’Boy, Jack Baird, Alexander King and Jack Bearne.
