Murillo has responded to speculation about his future following Chelsea's approach to Nottingham Forest for the 6ft defender.

The Brazilian has a long list of admirers following a sensational debut campaign for Forest last season. After signing Tosin Adarabioyo, the Blues are keen to bring in another centre-back with the possibility of Trevoh Chalobah leaving the club, alongside the already-departed Thiago Silva. understands that Murillo features highly in their list of potential signings this summer and are said to have approached Forest about the possibility of doing a deal. Reports however, suggested that the Reds' £60million-plus valuation was deemed too high by Chelsea.

It was said they could consider a cash-plus-players offer with the possibility of including Chalobah as part of any deal. The 21-year-old featured 36 times for the Reds in all competition, with 32 of those coming in the Premier League.

The fearless defender did not record one mistake that led to a goal last season and won several player of the month awards for his solid performances.

Addressing the rumours and the possibility of replacing Silva, whom he is a huge fan of, Murillo told podcast Benja Me Mucho: "We don’t know anything but in case it happens, it’s a big responsibility [to replace Silva].

"We don’t know anything for certain, the window opened last month so I’m going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not so there’s a lot of things to happen still but I’m relaxed."

When asked about which other Premier League club he would pick, Murillo added: "I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad. There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title.

"I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club."

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have also been linked with the 21-year-old. Atletico Madrid are claimed to have held talks with his representatives, while Juventus reportedly ruled themselves out of the race for his signature due to being unable to accommodate another non-EU player in their squad.
