Myles Jury Injured, Edson Barboza Draws New UFC on FOX 16 Opponent

The UFC on FOX 16 bout between former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Myles Jury is officially no more.

Pettis fell out of the fight in early May due to an elbow injury. Edson Barboza quickly stepped in to fill the gap, but now Jury has had to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury as well.

Lightweight up-and-comer Paul Felder has already agreed to take Jury’s spot, keeping the fully revamped bout on the fight card.

Barboza (15-3) is looking to rebound from a unanimous-decision loss to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 61 in February. Barboza had just been getting back on track following a loss to Cerrone early last year, winning back-to-back bouts over Evan Dunham and Bobby Green before entering the Johnson fight.

Felder (10-0) is undefeated, but this, his third UFC bout, marks the biggest opportunity of his career. Coming off of wins over Jason Saggo and Danny Castillo, a win over Barboza, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the UFC lightweight division, would likely catapult Felder into the rankings.

UFC on FOX 16 is slated for July 25 at the United Center in Chicago, where TJ Dillashaw puts his bantamweight belt on the line against Renan Barao, and Miesha Tate squares off with Jessica Eye in a women’s bantamweight contender bout.
