Nov 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights from National Basketball Association games on Tuesday: Hawks 110, Cavaliers 106 Dennis Schroder scored a career-high 28 points and Kent Bazemore added 25 in the Atlanta Hawks' 110-106 win against Cleveland. It was the first loss of the season for the Cavaliers, who were the league's last unbeaten team. Bazemore hit a pair of big baskets in the final four minutes. His 3-pointer with 3:33 left extended the Hawks' lead to 101-95 while his baseline jumper in the final seconds put the game out of reach after a three-point play from Kevin Love pulled Cleveland within 108-106 with 25 seconds left. Paul Millsap scored 21 points and Dwight Howard grabbed 17 rebounds for the Hawks despite leaving briefly in the first quarter to get four stitches in his upper lip. Kyrie Irving scored 29 points, LeBron James had 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists and Love added 24 points and 12 rebounds for Cleveland. Nets 119, Timberwolves 110 Brook Lopez scored 26 points as the Brooklyn Nets made enough plays down the stretch in a 119-110 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Trevor Booker added 15 points for the Nets. Sean Kilpatrick contributed 14 points while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Bojan Bogdanovic had 13 apiece. Andrew Wiggins scored a career-high 36 points for Minnesota. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half and was saddled with foul trouble after getting his fourth early in the final period. Zach LaVine added 17 points for the Timberwolves. Grizzlies 108, Nuggets 107 Center Marc Gasol hit a short shot in the lane as time expired to lift the Memphis Grizzlies to a 108-107 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Denver guard Emmanuel Mudiay, who scored a game-high 23 points, appeared to have made the winning basket with 7.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter when guard Gary Harris stole the ball and passed to Mudiay, who finished with a running dunk. But the Grizzlies, after turning the ball over with 4.7 seconds left, got a reprieve when Mike Conley stole an inbounds pass. Conley drove toward the basket and the ball flew out of bounds but was ruled Memphis ball. Vince Carter, who scored 20 points off the bench, lobbed the ball from the baseline to Gasol for the winning shot. Gasol finished with 19 points and six assists. Forward Zach Randolph scored 16 points with eight rebounds off the bench. Trail Blazers 124, Suns 121 Guards Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 71 points as the Portland Trail Blazers outlasted the Phoenix Suns. Lillard scored 22 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter and McCollum had 18 of his 33 points in the first quarter for the Trail Blazers (5-3), who won their third straight game. Eric Bledsoe scored 31 points and Devin Booker added 23 for the Suns (2-6). Mavericks 109, Lakers 97 Harrison Barnes scored 31 points as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers. Barnes connected on 11 of 18 shots from the floor. Seth Curry came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points for Dallas, while J.J. Barea added 18 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Reserve guard Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers (4-4) with 22 points. Nick Young, who scored Los Angeles' initial 13 points, had 18 of his 20 points in the first half. Lou Williams and Julius Randle finished with 15 points apiece for the Lakers, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. D'Angelo Russell chipped in 12 points and five rebounds for Los Angeles. Kings 102, Pelicans 94 DeMarcus Cousins scored 28 points, but it was two defensive plays that helped the Sacramento Kings pull away for a 102-94 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Cousins blocked a shot, leading to his own layup, then slapped the ball away from New Orleans guard Langston Galloway to create a Darren Collison layup, part of an 8-0 fourth-quarter run that proved to be the difference. Rudy Gay had 21 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Kings (4-5). Center Anthony Davis finished with 34 points and eight rebounds for the Pelicans (0-8).
