Neosho, Carl Junction grapplers log wins over Marshfield

Jan. 23—NEOSHO, Mo. — The Neosho Wildcats hosted a triangular with Carl Junction and Marshfield on Tuesday night, with both Neosho and CJ wrestling teams logging wins over Marshfield.

In the opening dual, Carl Junction jumped out to a 27-0 lead over the Marshfield Bluejays in a match that opened with a forfeit in favor of CJ and three straight Carl Junction pins. The Bulldogs finished 51-24 against the Bluejays.

In the 113-pound match, Carter Fogelsong pinned Marshfield's Ben Baker. CJ's Sam Melton followed with a pin of Beau Reyes at 120 pounds. At 126 pounds, Carl Junction's Max Matthews pinned Marshfield's Mac Mohnen.

The Bulldogs suffered their first loss at 132 pounds, when Camdon Kunkle dropped a 6-4 decision to Marshfield's Takoda Gritts. The Bluejays put six more on the board with a forfeit at 138 pounds and a Tanner Davidson pin of CJ's Kale Trosper at 144 pounds.

The Bulldogs got back on the board with an Aaron Dillingham pin of Marshfield's Anthony Macrelli at 150 pounds. CJ's Dexter Merrell pinned Keelan Stewart at 157 pounds, and Marcus Lopez-Durman outlasted Marshfield's Devan Aguirre in a 15-11 decision at 165 pounds.

Carl Junction's Tony Stewart logged a 7-2 decision over Tyce Jones at 175 pounds, and the Bulldogs also garnered forfeit points at 190 pounds. Marshfield got its final points off an open at 215 pounds, and an Eli Reynolds pin of Carl Junction's Blake Starks at 285 pounds.

On the girl's side, Marshfield built on six forfeits to win 36-12. In actual matches wrestled, Carl Junction's Jazmyne Bailey pinned Marshfield's Haven Maddeaux at 130 pounds and Isabella Montez pinned Marshfield's Jasmine Cody at 140 pounds.

In the second dual of the night, the Neosho Wildcats also downed Marshfield 76-6.

The Wildcats opened with a pin at 113 pounds, when Anthony Stotts took care of Marshfield's Johnathan McGlynn. At 120 pounds, Wildcat Sebastian Ioanis pinned Marshfield's Reyes and Neosho's Shaffer pinned Mohnen at 126 pounds.

In their 132-pound match, Neosho's Brody Mitchell logged an 8-0 major decision over Takoda Gritts, and Fisher Butler rallied for a pin against Marshfield's MJ Gritts at 138 pounds.

Lincoln Howard gave the Wildcats another 6 points with a pin of Marshfield's Macrelli at 150 pounds, and Wildcat Kade Lawson pinned Stewart at 157 pounds. Neosho's Chase Kivett followed with a pin of Aguirre at 165 pounds.

Marshfield logged its first points of the match when Jones pinned Neosho's Kaymon Rhone in their 175-pound match. Wildcat Dayton Kivett responded with a pin of Marshfield's Carter Pruitt at 190 pounds to get the Wildcats back in the scoring column.

Neosho's Ryan Counts logged a pin of Marshfield's Reynolds at 215 pounds and in the finale, Everson Tomlinson registered a quick pin of Marshfield's Peyton Woolman at 285 pounds, just 31 seconds into their match.

On the girls' side. Marshfield received 36 points off of open weights and beat Neosho 39-6. In the only two contested matches, Neosho's Melanie Butler pinned Isabella Whitlock in their 170-pound bout and Carmen Peren fell in overtime to Marshfield's Gracelyn Bull at 190 pounds.
