Red Bull Salzburg playmaker Valon Berisha has admitted it would be a “dream” to play in England, as he revealed Newcastle were “very interested” in signing him.

The 25-year-old, who helped Salzburg to the last four of the Europa League last season, has also been linked with Liverpool and Sampdoria.

In an interview with Norweigan TV station TV2 he said: “They (Newcastle) have been following me for a long time.

“There is an interest there, but there is nothing on the table that I have to decide on yet. England is the dream and we will see what it will be like.”

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has won plaudits throughout football for taking the Magpies into the top flight, and then comfortably keeping them there, but he will know reinforcements are needed before they tackle the top flight again.
