Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker kept his first clean sheet at the Copa America for Brazil but was unable to do anything to stop the Selecao from dropping two points against Costa Rica.

Alisson didn't have a shot to save in the whole game and Costa Rica didn't have an effort on goal at all until the 67th minute. But while the Liverpool man did all of the very limited things he needed to do, Brazil was left frustrated.

Despite having a forward line consisting of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Raphinha, Brazil could not break down its opponent. It had 74 per cent of the ball and managed 19 shots but couldn't find a breakthrough.

That is despite the Costa Rica goalkeeper, Patrick Sequiera, playing his club soccer in the Spanish third division. Costa Rica is ranked 52nd in the world and Brazil was the heavy favorite but was left unable to do anything about the barrier placed in front of it.

Endrick, Savio and Gabriel Martinelli were all brought off the bench by Brazil but even that didn't change anything. And Neymar, who is currently recovering from an ACL injury sustained while playing in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay last October, was seen on the sidelines perfectly summing up what was happening.

Neymar, who now plays in Saudi Arabia, was picked up by the television cameras with his head in his hands as Brazil failed multiple times to find a breakthrough. His face told the story of the game but Liverpool star Alisson could do nothing more, getting the best seat in the house for a tricky outing in attack for his teammates.

Liverpool.com says: It wasn't to be on the opening night at the Copa America for Brazil but it will still progress and go far in the tournament. It is no bad thing for Alisson that he had an easy night, though he will have to be a little more active in the rest of the matches at the competition, you would imagine. Brazil plays Paraguay next and then concludes the group phase by playing Luis Diaz and Colombia.
