NFL-National Football League roundup

Jan 7 (The Sports Xchange) - Cleveland Browns associate head coach/offense Pep Hamilton is considering leaving the team to reunite with Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, according to reports Saturday. Hamilton previously worked for Harbaugh at Stanford in 2010 as wide receivers coach, and the Wolverines have an opening for a quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. The Browns don't have an offensive coordinator in title on their staff because head coach Hue Jackson handles many of those duties. - - - Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin was active as the backup to rookie Connor Cook for Saturday's wild-card playoff game against the Houston Texans. Cook made his first career NFL start in Houston. The Raiders had no other choice, with Pro Bowler Derek Carr out because of a broken leg and McGloin's left shoulder injury causing him to be limited in practice this week. McGloin was healthy enough to play in an emergency if Cook goes down. The Raiders signed Garrett Gilbert to the practice squad this week in case McGloin wasn't able to be the backup. Quarterback Brock Osweiler started for the Texans after Tom Savage was ruled out earlier in the week because of a concussion. Savage remains in the NFL's concussion protocol. - - - The Detroit Lions downgraded center Travis Swanson to out for Saturday night's wild-card playoff game in Seattle against the Seahawks. Swanson will miss his fifth straight game with a concussion. The Lions previously listed Swanson as questionable. Third-round rookie Graham Glasgow will start again at center in place of Swanson. For the Seahawks (10-5-1), running back C.J. Prosise (shoulder) and defensive tackle Tony McDaniel (concussion) were ruled out. (Editing by Andrew Both)
