Jan 15 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of National Hockey League games on Sunday: Capitals 5, Flyers 0 Justin Williams and Matt Niskanen each scored twice within a five-minute span of the third period, Philipp Grubauer stopped 24 shots and the Washington Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-0 on Sunday at Verizon Center for their ninth straight win. Washington, the defending Presidents' Trophy winner, moved ahead of idle Columbus for first place in the Metropolitan Division as well as for the overall NHL points lead. Devils 2, Canucks 1 (overtime) Taylor Hall's goal at 1:28 of overtime gave New Jersey a victory over Vancouver. Hall beat Vancouver goaltender Jacob Markstrom with a shot through the legs during a two-on-one in which he elected to keep the puck. Wild 3, Blackhawks 2 Jason Pominville scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period, and Minnesota held on for a win over Chicago. Nino Niederreiter and Chris Stewart also scored for the Wild. Blues 2, Ducks 1 (OT) Patrik Berglund scored his second goal 51 seconds into overtime to give St. Louis a win over Anaheim in front of a sellout crowd of 17,174 at the Honda Center. Carter Hutton stopped 22 shots in his second successive start for the Blues, who earned their second consecutive victory after losing three of four.
