June 13 (Reuters) - Mike Yeo was named associate coach of the St. Louis Blues on Monday and general manager Doug Armstrong added that Yeo will replace retiring Ken Hitchcock as head coach for the 2017-18 season. The 42-year-old Yeo spent most of the last five seasons as head coach of the Minnesota Wild, compiling a 173-132-44 regular season record, and took the Wild to three postseason berths, including trips to the second round in 2014 and 2015. The Blues also announced that Rick Wilson was named an assistant coach, and that assistant coach Ray Bennett, goaltending coach Jim Corsi and Video Coach Sean Ferrell will return to the coaching staff. - - - The Nashville Predators signed goaltender Marek Mazanec to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday. The deal is worth $575,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the AHL level for the 2016-17 season. Mazanec was Nashville's ninth choice (179th overall in the sixth round) in the 2012 NHL draft. - - - The Montreal Canadiens agreed to terms with defenseman Mark Barberio on a two-year, one-way contract on Monday. Barberio, a Montreal native, played his first season with the organization in 2015-16, recording 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 30 NHL games. The 26-year-old Barberio's season came to a close on March 19 due to a concussion. - - - The Calgary Flames signed goaltender David Rittich to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday.
