Nick Montgomery insists he'll always stick to his principles after being offered a route back into football by Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Hibs boss Monty has linked up with Ange Postecoglou in North London by joining the ex-Celtic gaffer's new-look backroom staff. It's the 42-year-old's first job since being sacked at Easter Road, where he lasted just eight months in charge and failed to secure a top-six finish.

Montgomery - who led Central Coast Mariners to the A-League championship in 2023 - has been appointed as one of Postecoglou's new assistant managers alongside Sergio Raimundo. Matt Wells was appointed to senior No2 as he replaced newly-appointed Birmingham City boss Chris Davies.

And Montgomery has vowed to never change his philosophy as he marked the start of a new role at Spurs. He posted on LinkedIn: "Always stick to what you believe in, but most importantly believe in yourself and never change who you are. Time for a new challenge and one I can not wait to start. Roll on season 2024/25..."

Speaking on the appointments of Montgomery and Raimundo, Postecoglou said: "Both Nick and Sergio have a wealth of coaching experience over a number of years. They have already demonstrated a strong desire to both develop young talent and implement a football style that I believe will further strengthen the environment we have established. I'm looking forward to working with them."
