‘There is no alternative plan’: Borussia Dortmund expect Erling Haaland to stay this summer
Speculation has been rife over the past week that Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland could be departing over the summer, but the German club are not expecting him to be sold.
Haaland’s father, Alf Inge, and agent, Mino Raiola, were reported to have been in Spain to begin talks with Real Madrid and Barcelona this week, while also being expected to discuss options with Premier League sides in future, too.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says the club will talk to the pair about their intentions, but that BVB have no intention of offloading the in-demand Norwegian international, who has scored at a rate of a goal every 82 minutes for the Bundesliga side this season.
“We do not have a parallel plan. We will discuss this with Erling, his father and his agent Mino Raiola,” Watzke told DAZN.
“We also want him to be happy to stay with us, to score goals for BVB next year with conviction. There is no alternative plan.”

There remain questions over the future of Jadon Sancho, too, and Watzke says any decision over both players would be dependent on the offers which come in - which he feels will be few and far between owing to the drop in income clubs have experienced.
“I’m not getting involved in probabilities, it’s no good. Jadon Sancho has been with us much longer than Erling Haaland. We’ll have to speak to Jadon too.
“If there is an exceptional offer we will discuss it with the player and the agent, as always. Nonetheless, I am very sure that the transfer market will only run to a very limited extent this summer.
“Especially at the really big clubs you can see what kind of wounds coronavirus has inflicted, and they are not small ones that heal within two weeks.”
Dortmund play Manchester City on Tuesday night in the Champions League, one of the clubs who are thought to have Haaland right at the top of their wishlist.
