Nordic skiing-Bjoergen blows away the field to win 10km gold

LAHTI, Finland, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Norway's Marit Bjoergen blew away the field to claim her second gold at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti, winning the women's 10km cross-country by a staggering margin of 41 seconds ahead of Sweden's Charlotte Kalla. Bjoergen's compatriot Astrid Jacobsen won the bronze medal, 55.5 seconds behind the winner. Kalla powered her way around the course and crossed the finish line in first place, but six-time Olympic champion Bjoergen set a punishing pace out on the course and her split times left the Swede in no doubt as to who was going to win. The gold medal was the 36-year-old's 16th of her career at the world championships and her second in Lahti, following her victory in the skiathlon event on Saturday.
