Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

17:14

That's it here in Nottingham and the points are shared! What an encounter at the bottom of the table that turned out to be! Forest will be frustrated that they couldn't make good on a number of excellent passing moves, especially in the first half. However, they showed excellent fighting spirit to get back on terms after Crystal Palace's thunderous opener on 11 minutes. It was a Lerma-Eze-Mateta combo that had Forest seeing stars and the latter sent the ball rocketing into the top-left corner to round off a slick move and his fourth goal in five games. After this, things could've got worse for the hosts as Sels was called into action before the break - denying Eze from close range. Luckily though, Forest and Wood finally found their feet in this one - or should I say head? The Kiwi nodded a lofting effort home over Henderson following a elite cross from Gibbs-White. The nature of this game was illustrated dramatically with more key stops from Sels, numerous punches away from Henderson, and Williams heading onto his own post late on, yet the honours somehow stayed even. Forest now look to eat into their points deduction further as they prepare for Tuesday's visit of Fulham. Palace however, get ready for a trip to Bournemouth as they fight their own, much quieter relegation concerns. Thanks for joining us today reader! Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

FULL-TIME: NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-1 CRYSTAL PALACE

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:59

Hudson-Odoi is wide on the left! Yet he agonisingly squanders the chance to cross and it flies way too high over the back post. A dismal end to a brilliant contest...

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:58

We're into the final minute of stoppage time here... can either side snatch it? Gibbs-White is trying to pull the strings but Palace are resolute!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:56

Mitchell looks for Mateta with a low ball from the left side! Schlupp feeds the young wing-back well, yet the following pass is less than kind for the striker. It's way too far ahead, and now the experience of Clyne looks to be emerging to try and make an impact here.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:55

Substitution Tyrick Kwon Mitchell Nathaniel Edwin Clyne

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:53

Gibbs-White nearly slips in Wood! Anderson cuts the central pass out expertly with sliding athleticism!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:53

After encroaching the 90 minutes, this relegation showdown has another six minutes added on!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:52

Forest have taken a breath and worked it forward. Their attacking impetus earns a corner and Gibbs-White curls it from the left. As he has done consistently, Henderson claws the cross away from trouble.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:51

OFF THE POST! The resulting corner flies in from the left and Munoz is a menacing presence in the six-yard box. It glances off him and then slides off Williams' head and across to the right post! Hughes then smashes it over from the edge. What a let off for the hosts!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:49

Williams fouls Eze as the skilfull midfielder glides away from the Welshman outside the 'D' of the box. He's convinced he got the ball, but Eze has done well here. It's time for a free-kick in a dangerous area and the recipient of the foul is up to take it. A short move is worked by Eze and he them earns a corner with a blocked cross on the left.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:46

Toffolo arrives for the jaded-looking Aina as we approach the final five minutes of regular time here.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:46

Aina is hobbling with a knock. Before today, he's not played properly since mid February's Africa Cup of Nations. He's done well, all things considered.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:44

Forest have moved on up and earned a free-kick on the left. Gibbs-White whips it across but Henderson deals with it well and punches clear in agile fashion.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:43

Wharton has been brilliant today. He's certainly one to watch, possessing superb passing range for a young man. He's adapted well to Premier League life since joining from Blackburn Rovers and looks to be coming off...

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:41

Substitution Adam James Wharton William James Hughes

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:40

Mitchell winds up Elanga as he clears. The defender is wiped out on the left. Palace now look to introduce fresh legs. After this, Mateta gets played in but Felipe tracks back and hits him like a tonne of bricks with a vintage tackle.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:38

We're into dangerous territory in the final 15 minutes now, given Palace's record with conceding late goals paired with this game's Wood renaissance!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:37

REYNA AND GIBBS-WHITE GO CLOSE! The U.S international finds himself with the ball as Forest rework the play on the edge of the box. He fires straight at Henderson. The ball is recycled and Gibbs-White nearly smacks the material off the ball as he sends a shot whizzing over!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:35

Forest tails are up on the left side, but yet again, as said before - Palace's great shape slows down a sharp move.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:34

Forest get a touch on the ball, yet it's widely believed if it was either side of Henderson, the offside flag would've intervened. Simple save nonetheless.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:32

BIG SAVE FROM SELS! Eze is an absolute nuisance, with a hop, skip, and a jump through several outstretched Forest limbs. Gliding into the box from the left, he tries to find Schlupp and it bounces back him fortuously before shooting for the left side. Sels spreads himself excellently once again.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:32

Yellow Card Jeffrey Schlupp

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:30

Mateta did brilliantly just now, nearly reaching Schlupp after bullying back possession on the byline. That would've been some introduction for the new man but it gets blocked well.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:27

Schlupp comes on for his 200th Premier League appearance. Ayew comes off.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:26

Wood has now scored 10 in the Premier League this season for Nottingham Forest, netting six goals in his last seven games in the competition. It's the fifth time he’s reached double figures since 2017-18, becoming the seventh player to do so after Mohamed Salah (7), Son Heung-min (7), Harry Kane (6), Jamie Vardy (5), Raheem Sterling (5) and Sadio Mané (5).

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:22

Assist Morgan Anthony Gibbs-White

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:22

Forest work it down the right but Andersen is in the right place to block the low ball inside. It's the last move before an imminent change.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:21

Substitution Divock Okoth Origi Giovanni Alejandro Reyna

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:20

In the next play, Hudson-Odoi looks for Wood again but Palace get it out for a corner which is ultimately cleared.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:19

Well, there's Woods' first real moment today! He gets on the end of a floated ball from the right, yet his lofty header is tamely off target.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:18

In this quiet spell as Richards is tended to, it's worth going back to Origi's offside. The attacking players for Forest need to make the most of every pass - especially with Gibbs-White behind them. Since his Premier League debut for Nottingham Forest in August 2022, only Bukayo Saka (106) and Phil Foden (85) have more chances created from open play among English players than Morgan Gibbs-White (84), with 10 of his last 11 assists in the competition coming from open play. More will likely come.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:16

Origi is played in on the right. However, he's just offside. In the meantime, Richards is down for Palace with what looks like something muscular. Hughes is warming up for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:15

Wow! Up the other end, Hudson-Odoi is fed by Gibbs-White and he cuts in from the left to fire on target! Henderson powers it away to safety, but it's already been a brilliant start to the second period here! That'll help the xG, no doubt.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:14

EZE FLASHES IT ACROSS FROM THE LEFT! He's just onside and is picked out in fantastic fashion by Wharton! The England international opens his body but can't find the right side of the goal. Forest napping here, wake up!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:11

The competitive vigour has continued in this seconfd half. Eze is tracked by Yates, the midfielder on him like a shadow! Then, Mateta receives the ball and rolls his marker Felipe. It's great centre forward play.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:11

Yellow Card Felipe Augusto de Almeida Monteiro

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:09

Forest's half-time teamtalk can't have been helped by news filtering in from elsewhere. Luton are currently leading Tottenham in North London by a goal to nil.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:08

Yates gets us back underway here as Forest instantly look to get something from this game.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:08

Substitution Ibrahim Sangaré Anthony David Junior Elanga

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:06

So, Forest truly have work to do. Their passing and movement has been sparkling at times, yet that final ball or decisive effort has been found wanting. In terms of xG, it'll be intriguing to see the two sides work on their output. Forest need drastic improvement, with a meagre xG of 0.16. The Eagles on the other hand could stretch the lead if they sink their talons into an impressive xG of 0.85. That said, both sides have had five shots apiece. Elanga is receiving some words from Nuno as he looks to emerge. Sangare is rumoured to be the man coming off. Elanga could be the perfect compliment to Hudson-Odoi and Origi's dynamism ahead of Gibbs-White. Wood needs to be brought into the game more, it must be said, Elanga could be the man to help that.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

16:00

Well, we described this one as a mammoth task for Nuno's men, and as they trail by a goal at the break, the second half could prove even more challenging. After an energetic start to proceedings with some intriguing wingplay from the hosts, those in red just couldn't find that final pass. Highlights saw Sangare blast over and Henderson punch clear, yet aside from that - Palace survived to block everything that's came their way. The Eagles have been more decisive in front of goal, and found lift off on 11 minutes with a truly superb goal. Lerma slotted in Eze, and the dynamic playmaker squared smartly for Mateta. He thundered the ball up into the top-left to take Forest fans down the decibel pecking order as South London cheers filled the air. The away side could've found a second just before the break, yet Sels was superb to deny Eze from close range, after he was found by a searching Wharton ball in behind.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:52

HALF-TIME: NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0-1 CRYSTAL PALACE

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:51

It's played short and Lerma wraps his foot around the ball but it's way too far. Last action of the half indeed, Kavanagh takes us into the break.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:50

Palace have another corner as Eze's move is blocked on the left. It'll likely be the final action of the half.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:48

Palace have a corner on the right headed out. Lerma arrives to it but leans back and pummels it over. Two minutes of added time have been signalled here.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:47

Gibbs-White is given a taste of his own technical medicine! Mitchell is in trouble with the press, but remains calm and sticks tight to the touchline, dancing and evading the midfielder's challenge to craftily keep the ball inbounds. Eze then darts off, but his pass right is poor and Forest move it on. Approaching half-time though, Palace are offering sustained pressure.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:45

Eze backs into a jumping Felipe as a ball is floated over. The Brazilian lands awkwardly and play is stopped. It goes back to Sels and we restart here.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:44

While attacking flair is big on Palace's agenda it seems, Glasner must also be praised for the discipline he's instilled in the side's aptitude for getting back into position when off the ball. Sangare particularly, has struggled to deal with a sophisticated crowd scene in the middle.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:41

SELS! THAT'S AN EXCELLENT BLOCK FROM EZE! The skilfull midfielder is played in beautifully by Wharton, yet the big Belgian snuffs out the danger with a superb save with his left arm from close range!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:40

In another brief possession-based lull, and to build on the previous point - it's worth noting that if Forest fight back in this one it wouldn't be an uncommon theme. Crystal Palace have conceded more goals in the final five minutes of Premier League games this season than any other side (14), doing so in each of their last two matches against Tottenham and Luton. Indeed, only Hull in 2009-10 (16) and Cardiff in 2013-14 (15) have conceded more such goals in a single season in the competition.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:38

Since the start of last season, Forest have scored the opening goal in more Premier League games that they’ve failed to win than any other side (18 – D9 L9), doing so last time out in their 1-1 draw with Luton. Maybe going behind first may bring a refreshing change?

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:35

Gibbs-White is brought down by Ayew on the left side. The fouled man gets up to take the kick, yet it's an ineffective delivery. Williams then goes down on the edge of the area after a mini shoving match. Referee Kavanagh is unmoved. The opposite can be said for the furthent home support.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:33

Sangare blasts over from just outside the area. It's not too far astray and Forest employ typically smart passing this time with Yates and Origi. The Ivorian defensive midfielder was perhaps the wrong man in the right place as it arrows over the crossbar...

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:31

At The City Ground this season, Nottingham Forest have four wins, three draws, and seven losses in 14 Premier League contests. In league matches on the road this season, Crystal Palace have three wins, four draws, and seven losses. The Eagles are looking to reverse an eight-match away winless streak (W0 D3 L5). The last time they earned a win away was November 2023 against Burnley.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:30

Well, there's an offside flag up now against a darting Hudson-Odoi and Palace can finally find reprieve. Munoz has a bloody nose - perhaps an image of Palace's fight in the face of increased pressure from the frenetic hosts.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:30

Forest have a free-kick after Williams is bundled over just inside the Eagles' half. It's floated over from deep on the right, but yet again - the final ball is missing for the hosts. There are certainly encouraging signs though, it must be said.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:27

Another Forest attack is helped by Gibbs-White. It moves right through Yates and he finds Origi. The Belgian's effort is blocked well as he tries to fire back across.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:26

Forest are cranking up the pressure now. Henderson fists away the goalline-bound corner. Then, between Dominguez and Sangare - they just can't blast through the Palace line. Red confidence is growing here...

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:24

Wow, the link-up from Forest! Very satisfying play as Origi and Gibbs-White glide up the pitch down the right. It's put behind by the visitors as the ball is squared. Palace now face a corner on the right side with Gibbs-White standing over it. It comes to nothing, yet Forest return and bright spark Hudson-Odoi earns another set-piece, this time on the left.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:23

Nottingham Forest have got the better of Crystal Palace of late, unbeaten in their last three Premier League meetings (W1 D2 L0). Crystal Palace are looking for their first league win in fixtures between the two clubs since November 2022. Forest have outscored the Eagles 2-1 during their unbeaten streak.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:23

Aina works it down the left and looks for the beacon that is Wood. It's headed away but drops to Hudson-Odoi who crosses again. It evades everyone, but that's a clear axis that Palace will have to keep an eye on!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:20

Palace's midfield are looking to win the battle in the middle so far. Sangare is crowded out before the men in light blue and white dink it effortlessly around the press.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:18

There's been a few bitty fouls here in the first 15 minutes and now one on the left has seen Eze whip his set-piece to the back post. Sels is caught unaware and has to tip it over! It nearly finds the top right corner! Forest clear and regroup after the resulting corner kick.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:17

Palace do look the more energised today and it could be down to that aforementioned friendly period in the international break. Glasner spoke of the Spanish training retreat earlier in the week. "We had a very good week in Marbella with a good friendly game, 1-0 against Bodo/Glimt, so a clean sheet, which is always important. Then we had a good week – we didn’t communicate it until now – with a friendly game against Millwall. It was also a clean sheet for us. So it’s going in the right direction, and I think we did the best out of it that we could."

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:13

Assist Eberechi Oluchi Eze

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:13

After quite an energetic start, we've hit a slight lull. Saying that, Felipe fouls Eze as he tries to burst forward in the middle of the park. It's very tight here.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:10

The win probabilities here are suggesting a very even game on the cards. The hosts sit at 37 percent while Palace look to build around 32.9 percent. A draw isn't out of the picture either, with 30.1 percent.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:08

Wing play has been an intriguing ploy from Forest so far. Origi is rapid down the right and pulls it back from the byline. Again though, it finds no one and Palace clear.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:07

As was briefly mentioned in the build-up, Forest's newspaper inches have been dominated by talks of the PSR breach that saw four points deducted. Manager Nuno spoke firmly about the situation this week. "It's in our hands, it's up to us to reverse the situation and that is to get points on the pitch and this is what we're going to try on Saturday.”

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:05

Breaking out of the formative possession, Aina and Hudson-Odoi link up well down the left. It's pulled back, but no one's there! Eze then breaks for Palace, yet the counter comes to nothing.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:04

After honouring former player Larry Lloyd's recent passing, Forest's fans are in fine fettle. The visitors have won the toss though, and Wharton and Lerma get us underway on the banks of the Trent!

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

15:00

So, for some further comment on the standings... Forest's run-in with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules has seen a four-point deduction. Now 18th, Nuno Espirito Santo's side ultimately face a mammoth task. Palace on the other hand, have an eight-point buffer - yet still aren't free from the chains of survival doubts. In 14th, Eagles fans will be hoping Glasner's travelling side can make good on some solid friendly preparations back in the international break. They beat both Bodo/Glimt and Millwall, while keeping clean sheets.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

14:45

Today's officials in the red side of Nottingham are led by Chris Kavanagh. His assistants are Simon Bennett and Dan Robathan, whilst the fourth official is Leigh Doughty. On VAR duty, it's Tony Harrington, with Natalie Aspinall assisting.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

14:40

Oliver Glasner makes one change to the Crystal Palace side who drew 1-1 with Luton three weeks ago. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is out for the season with an elbow injury so Henderson comes in to replace him.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

14:40
