Oliver Glasner refusing to get carried away at Crystal Palace after humbling Manchester United

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner knows a 4-0 win over Manchester United has not made his side the "best in the world" and wants to maintain a strong finish to the campaign.

Michael Olise scored twice as the Eagles swept past United at Selhurst Park on Monday night to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

Palace head to Wolves on Saturday, when Glasner expects a fully focused display to maintain their momentum.

"I already forgot the Man Utd game because it is not important for tomorrow," Glasner said.

"Of course we enjoyed the night and we enjoyed the win, but on Tuesday we were still critical of us because we could do some things better, especially in the first half.

"We had very good moments, we scored nice goals, but it is always about knowing what is necessary to be that good.

"This is what we talked about and this is what we did in training because we go to Wolverhampton and we want to win there.

"We know Wolves is a very good team, playing a similar system, a 3-4-3 with a lot of pace in offence, with good players in the pockets, with a lot of power.

"It is important to take the positive things from Man Utd - but not now say, 'wow, we are the best in the world because we beat them'. That is how we worked this week."

Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson in February and the Austrian has slowly seen his methods produce both consistent performances and results.

The former Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt boss, though, feels there is still plenty more to come.

"It is just a very short period of time where we were successful - we are still 14th in the league," he said.

"Yes, we take the confidence from our performances, but it is our challenge, our job to show these performances over a whole season, because we can't be happy being 14th in the table.

"So we take the positivity, take the enthusiasm, but we stay grounded, continue to work hard because otherwise it can go very, very quickly in the other direction and this is what we all don't want."

Palace had earlier announced contract extensions for Will Hughes, Jeffrey Schlupp and Joel Ward, while James Tomkins and Jairo Riedewald will be leaving the club at the end of their current deals.

"We had to take some decisions in the last weeks," Glasner said.

"Of course it is a very good group with very good characters and we are starting to find ourselves as a group.

"Then we talk about which contracts we should extend, because every single player can contribute to success.

"We took these decisions, but everyone who will stay is important. We are convinced he is important for being successful, so this is how we decided."
