Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has called on his squad to develop an 'addiction to winning' following their rejoiceful 2-0 home triumph over Newcastle United, a victory that assures the Eagles' Premier League status.

The hero of the match was in-form striker Jean-Philippe Mateta who managed a second-half brace, marking his tally to eight goals in nine games since Glasner took charge in February.

The post-Roy Hodgson era commenced with Palace barely five points clear of the relegation zone; however, this third successive win propels them to a comfortable 39-point position, fourteen clear of the drop zone with just twelve more points to play for this season.

"Now we hope for four in a row," asserted Glasner. "It was a great performance and all the credit to the players for the performance, for the energy, for the intensity and for the offensive way of playing always trying to score goals.

"Of course it is a good feeling now to have completed mission number one; staying in the Premier League mathematically. Yes, it is a good feeling and I hope the players get addicted to winning games, to this feeling, to this emotion."

The Eagles controlled the game from the start, with Eberechi Eze orchestrating the attacks. Despite a goalless first half, Mateta turned things around 55 minutes into the game, courtesy of a slick collaborative effort with Jordan Ayew.

Impressively, the match saw Jean-Philippe Mateta notch a goal for the fifth home game in a row. Despite Newcastle's persistent efforts and a controversial penalty claim when Sean Longstaff was brought down in the 76th minute, Crystal Palace remained dominant, securing the victory with just two minutes to spare.

An intricate play between Hughes and substitute Jeffrey Schlupp led to another stellar goal from Mateta, squaring away his 14th of the season through Martin Dubravka's legs.

On this electric performance, Palace manager Glasner shared, "It is all about that we are a unit on the pitch and then of course the strikers are then in the position where they can score and then can show their quality.

"He has a lot of qualities and he now has the confidence. The second goal was one touch with the left foot. Now for me it is important we stay humble."

For us, it's staying hungry and staying ambitious because everything we do we do for our club, for our fans and for us as a group."
