Oneonta girls fall to Norwich; Cooperstown's Lambert sets assist record

Feb. 6—The Oneonta girls basketball team dropped its Senior Night game to Norwich Tuesday by a score of 53-38.

Hayden LeFever recorded a double-double for the Yellowjackets, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Selene Wellman notched 14 points and five steals while Isabella Giacomelli had 11 rebounds and four assists to go with four points.

Emma Urgo led Norwich with 16 points.

Oneonta will be at Windsor Thursday.

South Kortright 59, Gilboa/Windham-Ashland-Jewett 44

South Kortright used a 37-12 first half to beat Gilboa/Windham-Ashland-Jewett at home Tuesday in the Delaware League playoffs.

Addy Eckert led the way with a double-double 30 points and 13 rebounds while Carlee Dropp and Madysen Reeves each scored 11 points in the win.

Hannah Tuttle and Ashtyn Hansen scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, in the loss for Gilboa/WAJ.

SK improves to 15-4 on the season and will take on Charlotte Valley in the Delaware League Championship next Thursday.

Unatego 57, Deposit-Hancock 29

Unatego defeated Deposit-Hancock 57-29 on the road Tuesday.

Harly Birdsall scored a game-high 18 points while Gracie Tilt added 11 points and Bailey McCoy tallied 10 for the Spartans.

Sarah Gross led D-H with eight points in the loss.

Unatego will host Whitney Point next Tuesday to end their regular season.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cooperstown 74, Morrisville-Eaton 37Charlie Lambert broke the Cooperstown school record for assists in a game in the Hawkeyes' 74-37 win over Morrisville-Eaton Tuesday.

Lambert provided 15 assists on the night to go with 12 points. Jay Davine held the previous school record with 14 helpers.

Brody Murdock led Cooperstown's offense with 28 points while Cooper Bradley finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.

The Hawkeyes (11-8 overall, 5-4 league) will close out their regular season Thursday at Poland.

Worcester 46, Windham-Ashland-Jewett 36 (Monday)

Worcester defeated Windham-Ashland-Jewett 46-36 at home Monday in a non-league contest.

Matt Sanders led the Wolverines with a double-double performance of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Derek Land added eight points.

For WAJ, Christian Greene scored 17 points while Eli Cercone added 11.

Worcester (10-8) will host Sharon Springs Thursday in the Tri-Valley League playoffs.

BOYS SWIMMING

The Oneonta boys swim team improved to 8-1 on the season Tuesday with a 62-31 victory over Norwich on the team's Senior Night.

Elias House, Logan Temming and Cyrus Wightman each won two individual races for OHS.

House was first in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, with his time of 1:00.63 in the latter qualifying him for the state meet.

Temming won both the 200 free and 100 butterfly while Wightman was first in the 200 individual medley and 500 free.

Also winning for the Yellowjackets were Bryson Huber in the 100 free and Ian Fulkerson in the 100 backstroke. OHS won all three relay events as well.
