Oneonta softball splits doubleheader with Puget Sound

Mar. 18—The SUNY Oneonta softball team split a doubleheader with Puget Sound Monday in Tacoma, WA.

The Red Dragons dropped the first game 3-2 and won the second 5-3.

Julia Serena went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in the sixth inning of the first game while Delaney Haley and Ella Stewart tallied hits in the loss.

Marissa Dionisio struck out two over four and two thirds innings while Anna Torgersen struck out one in an inning and a third.

The Red Dragons scored a run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings of the second game to come from behind and seal the win.

Victoria Hussey went 3-for-4 while Adriana Fiori, Haley, Cailin Hall, Serena, Sophia Mangone and Jamie Cardello each drove in a run in the win.

Emily Brown was the winning pitcher, striking out eight while allowing two earned runs over five and one-third innings.

Oneonta improves to 4-8 with the win and will visit Skidmore for a doubleheader Saturday.

SUNY Poly 9, SUNY Delhi 0 Keene State 15, SUNY Delhi 0

The SUNY Delhi softball team dropped a pair of five-inning games in Myrtle Beach Monday.

SUNY Poly scored seven runs in the third inning and held on to beat the Broncos 9-0 in the first game.

Sidney Cooper singled while Danielle Seymour struck out two while allowing four runs over five innings in the loss.

Delhi was blanked 15-0 by Keene State in the second game.

Margaret Cremins went 2-for-2 with a double while Angelina Dickel, Cooper and Kayleigh Allen each tallied hits in the loss.

Dickel and Seymour combined to strike out two over five innings for the Broncos.

Delhi falls to 2-6 and will host Houghton for a doubleheader next Wednesday.

George Fox 9, SUNY Oneonta 5 (Saturday) George Fox 6, SUNY Oneonta 5 (Saturday)

SUNY Oneonta fell to George Fox in a doubleheader in Newberg, OR Saturday.

George Fox won the first game 9-5 and the second game 6-5.

The Red Dragons took a 2-0 lead in the third inning before the Bruins responded with four in the fourth inning and sealed the game with a five-run sixth inning after Oneonta opened a 5-4 lead.

Haley went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double for Oneonta while Mangone, Brown and Fiori each had a pair of hits.

Cadence Brennan struck out one over three and one-third innings while allowing three earned runs in the loss.

The Bruins took the second game on a walk-off two-run single off the bat of Makayla Noone.

Serena, Mangone and Gianna Cancelleri each doubled while Dionisio allowed three runs over four and two-thirds innings for the Red Dragons.

MEN'S LACROSSE

SUNY Delhi 14, Mt. St. Vincent 6 (Sunday)

The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team defeated Mt. St. Vincent 14-6 on the road Sunday.

The Broncos led 3-2 after the first quarter and pulled away with a 6-0 second quarter.

Benjamin Moscatiello, Greg Junge and Kyle Moore each scored three goals while Chris Lazazzaro and Jagger Beachak each scored two and Jackson Murphy added a goal in the win.

Mikel Triolo had 11 saves for Delhi.

Delhi improves to 6-1 and will visit St. Joseph's-Long Island Tuesday.

Kean 14, SUNY Oneonta 9 (Saturday)

SUNY Oneonta fell to Kean 14-9 on the road Saturday.

Jamie O'Neil and Thomas Hnis each scored a pair of goals while Jesse Alfano St John, Stephen Barikyan, Vincent Tirino, Matthew Krieg and Andrew Guinto each scored in the loss.

Harrison Boukas had 16 saves for the Red Dragons.

Oneonta falls to 4-3 and will visit Potsdam Saturday to open SUNYAC play.

Hartwick fell to Clarkson 19-7 on the road Saturday.

Garrett Frost had three goals and one assist while Seth Bello, Tyler Nocito, Liam Kinnane and Colin August each scored once in the loss.

Chris Andersen tallied 13 saves for the Hawks.

Hartwick falls to 2-3 and will visit Rivier Wednesday.
