Oneonta tops Chenango Forks; Schenevus rallies past H-T

Jan. 3—The Oneonta boys basketball team defeated Chenango Forks 73-61 Wednesday at home.

OHS jumped out to a 23-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, making 10 three-pointers in the victory.

Brady Carr led the Yellowjackets with 23 points while Britten Zeh and Makya Morrison each had 15 points in the win.

Walker Paske led Chenango Forks with 18 points.

Oneonta will visit Susquehanna Valley Friday.

Schenevus 48, Hunter-Tannersville 37

A big fourth quarter helped Schenevus rally for a 48-37 road win over Hunter-Tannersville Wednesday in non-league action.

The Dragons outscored H-T 18-2 in the final period to secure the comeback win.

Jackson Reed netted a game-high 24 points for Schenevus while Allen Osborne added 13 of his own.

Grady Glennon led H-T with 21 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals.

Connor Schiefer, meanwhile, notched a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Schenevus (5-5) will visit Morris next Tuesday while H-T (1-5) will be at Charlotte Valley Thursday.

Edmeston 50, Worcester 34

Edmeston defeated Worcester 50-34 on the road Wednesday in Tri-Valley League action.

Izek Richards had 12 points for Edmeston while Gavin McEnroe added 10 points in the win.

Matt Sanders led Worcester with 14 points in the loss.

Edmeston will visit Richfield Springs Friday while Worcester will visit Milford the same day.

Charlotte Valley 66, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton 38 (Tuesday)

Charlotte Valley defeated Gilbertsville-Mount Upton 66-38 Tuesday at home.

The Raiders led early but the Wildcats had an 18-3 run in the second quarter and never looked back.

Trevor Waid led the way with 19 points while Ezra Ontl added 14 points in the win.

Devon Hartwell and Kyle Keuhn each scored 14 points for G-MU.

Charlotte Valley will host Hunter-Tannersville Thursday while G-MU will visit Cherry Valley-Springfield Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Delhi 45, Unatego 41

The Delhi girls held off a furious rally by Unatego Wednesday to earn a crucial 45-41 home win in Midstate Athletic Conference play.

Leading by 22 at halftime, the Bulldogs were able to hold for the win despite being outscored 30-12 in the second half.

Natalie Vredenburgh led Delhi with 19 points and six assists, Tyler Abts notched 10 points and seven assists and Danielle Ennist had a team-high seven rebounds.

Unatego's Lizzie Craft scored 16 points in the loss while Harly Birdsall and Madisyn Birdsall scored nine and eight points, respectively.

Delhi (6-2) will visit James I. O'Neill Saturday while Unatego (6-3) will be at Sidney the same day.

South Kortright 40, Laurens/Milford 30

South Kortright went on the road Wednesday and defeated Laurens/Milford 40-30 in non-league action.

Addy Eckert scored 14 points in the win while Katherine Reinshagen and Carlee Dropp each finished with 10 points.

For Laurens/Milford, Kyrah Andrades had 12 points while Delaney Maison scored 10.

South Kortright (8-4) will be at Roxbury next Tuesday while Laurens/Milford (5-4) will host Worcester Saturday.

Oneonta 44, Whitney Point 39

Oneonta defeated Whitney Point 44-39 Wednesday on the road.

Selene Wellman led the Yellowjackets in scoring with 12 points while Hayden LeFever and Isabella Giacomelli each added 10 points in the win.

LeFever and Kylie Carr grabbed 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

Oneonta will host Susquehanna Valley Thursday.

West Canada Valley 42, Cooperstown 36

The Cooperstown girls fell 42-36 to West Canada Valley Wednesday.

Mia Kaltenbach scored a team-high 11 points in the win while Rory Nelen had nine points and seven rebounds, Brenna Seamon had eight points and 15 rebounds and Polly Kennedy grabbed seven rebounds.

Cooperstown will be at Poland Friday.

The Cooperstown/Milford wrestling team fell to Adirondack 45-27 in Wednesday's dual meet.

Winning by pin for C/M were Max Koffer (124 pounds), Micheal Weaver (145) and Matthew Perrino (215). Max Sharf, meanwhile, won by decision at 285 pounds.

C/M will be in Oneonta Friday for the Ross Cordell Rotary Tournament.
