Oneonta wrestling sweeps Vermont duals event
Jan. 1—The Oneonta wrestling team was in Fair Haven, Vt., Saturday competing in the Slater Duals.
The Yellowjackets won all six of their matches to improve to 14-4 in dual action on the season.
OHS had four wrestlers go 6-0 in the event: Clayton Ritter (108 pounds), Alan Little (146), Reilly Waltz (165) and Jayden Zakala (215).
Oneonta will host the Oneonta Rotary Ross Kordell Invitational this Friday and Saturday. Sunday will feature the Section IV Girls State Qualifier at OHS.
Cooperstown/Milford was also in action Saturday as it hosted the Cooperstown Invitational.
TJ O'Connor placed first overall at 152 pounds after winning all five of his matches. His first four victories came via pin while he won by technical fall in the first-place match against Maine-Endwell's Albert Smith.
Elsewhere for C/M, Theo Spinosa was fourth at 116 pounds, Max Sharf was fifth at 285 and Brent Chase was sixth at 170.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Edmeston/Morris 38, South Kortright 30 (Friday)
The Edmeston/Morris girls basketball team took down South Kortright 38-30 Friday in the final of the Edmeston Christmas Tournament.
Tournament MVP Haylie Lund scored 14 points while Molly Rifanburg also had 14 in the win, earning tourney all-star honors.
Hannah Ransford paced SK with 13 points while Addy Eckert scored seven. Both players were named to the all-tournament team.
Laurens/Milford cruised to a 43-10 victory over Margaretville Friday in the Stamford Tournament.
Delaney Maison led the L/M with 19 points while Lexi Sutphin and Brooke Mann each added six points in the win.
Ava Fronckowiak had eight points for Margaretville.
L/M will host South Kortright Wednesday.
