Paris Olympics 2024: Sport climbing events and schedule

For the second time ever, sport climbing will be an event in the Summer Olympic Games. The updated version at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will look similar to its first iteration but with a noticeable change.

In its Olympics debut in 2020, the climbing competition only had one set of medals for men and women, so the competition combined three formats of climbing: lead climbing, bouldering and speed climbing.

This year, speed climbing has been designated as a separate event and will have its own sets of medals separate from those awarded to the lead/bouldering medals.

The sport climbing competition first made its Olympics debut at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as one of the proposed additional sports to make the shortlist alongside a few others. It is once again on the list of additional sports for 2024 and will also make its return to the Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
