Patriots notch big Conference Indiana victory at Columbus

Jan. 5—Defense remains a constant for Terre Haute North in high school basketball, and the Patriots used that asset again Friday night in taking a 44-38 Conference Indiana road victory at Columbus North.

"It was a really good conference win on the road," coach Todd Woelfle reported after the game. "The guys found a way.

"We weren't crisp offensively all night, but our team defense was excellent."

It was 16-16 at halftime, but the Patriots matched that total in the third quarter and took a 32-28 lead into the final eight minutes.

A 4-for-8 performance at the foul line in the fourth quarter may have made things a little shaky, but the visitors still won that quarter 12-10.

Bryce Renn led North with 11 points, all of them in the second half, while Kavish Reddy scored 10. Judah Lewis led the Bull Dogs with a game-high 13 points.

"We got positive contributions from everyone," coach Woelfle said. "This was a tough stretch for us, playing several games in a short amount of time.

"This group is coming together and getting better, really starting to play for each other," he added. "Makes the long bus ride home much better after a big W. I'm proud of our guys."

The Patriots are 10-3 overall, with seven straight wins, and 1-1 in Conference Indiana. The Patriots play Terre Haute South next Friday in Hulman Center.

Columbus North is 3-6 and 0-1 and hosts Covenant Christian on Wednesday.
