Pattemore Cup winners crowned at Oake Manor GC

Now the dry weather has arrived Oake Manor Golf Club looks superb and is in excellent condition thanks to the hard work of Course Manager James Williams and his dedicated team of greenkeepers.

Competitions are underway with 112 golfers taking part in the Saturday Stableford Competition. The overall winner and winner of division 1 was Robin Trott scoring an excellent 39 points, Richard Barker came second with 38 points and James Symons was third with 37 points. Barry Hardwill won division 2 with 36 points, Ashley Gaines was second with 34 points and Cliff Trott came third with 33 points. Carl Puzey won division 3 with 36 points while Christopher Hayfield was second also with 36 points and Mukhtar Zamon was third with 35 points.

Nancy Marshall won the Ladies Saturday Stableford Competition scoring 27 points, Suzanne Ward was second with 26 points and Amanda Mather came third also with 26 points.

Stuart Coleman won division 1 of the Sunday Stableford Competition scoring 36 points, Michael Bright was second with 35 points and Kieron Ashton came third also with 35 points. Thomas Salter was the overall winner of the competition with 42 points the best score of the day, Graeme Wallace came second in division 2 with 38 points and Michael Andrews was third with 36 points.

On Sunday there was a Mixed Greensomes Stableford Competition for the Pattemore Cup. The competition was very close, the winners were Pam Kinnear and Keith Cooper who scored 39 points and won on countback against second placed Rosemary Webber and Grandson Thomas Bordier also 39 points. Amanda Mather and Mike Amos were third with 38 points. Jane Clist was nearest the pin on the 10th hole for the Ladies, Anthony James nearest the pin on 14th hole for the men and Pam Kinnear and Keith Cooper were nearest the pin in two shots on the 18th hole. All the golfers sat down to a delicious Oake Manor carvery and prize giving after the competition.

The Seniors played an “Order of Merit” Stableford Competition on Monday. Past Somerset Captain of Captains John Beer won the Competition and Division 1 scoring 32 points, Peter Matthews came second also with 32 points while Glyn Pearce was third with 29 points. Christopher Mann won division 2 with 31 points, Mike Howard was second with 29 points and Terry Brown came third with 26 points.

Alison Harman was the clear winner of the Ladies Medal Competition on Tuesday with a score of nett 73 in Division 1, second was Janet Howe with nett 76 and Angela Warnes came third with nett 77. Mary Beakes won division 2 scoring nett 75, Ros Shepherd came second with nett 77 while Sue Corlett was third with nett 78.
