Paul Pogba fulfilling a ‘dream’ at Manchester United as player and agent downplay transfer talk

Paul Pogba has claimed that returning to Manchester United in 2016 was “the best feeling ever”, despite persistent speculation over his Old Trafford future.

Pogba became United’s record signing two years ago when he joined in a £89million move from Juventus, having previously left Manchester for Turin in 2012.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from United this past year after his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho became strained.

Pogba, however, has said that he returned to Manchester in order to succeed at the club he first joined as a teenager in 2009 and that desire has “never changed”.

“When I came back to United, it was the best feeling ever,” he told Inside United, the club’s official magazine.

“I came back home. I always dreamed of playing for United, to have many games and score goals.

“Nothing had really changed, except for maybe the team and the manager, but the rest of the club was the same.”

Pogba added: “I just came back home, it was like I didn't really leave – I just went on holiday! It was a great feeling to come back home.

“It was great to come back, to feel the air of Manchester. That has never changed.”

Pogba suggested he was unhappy at Old Trafford earlier this season when he said that if he spoke truthfully about his situation at the club he would be fined.

The France international later made a veiled criticism of Mourinho’s style of play, insisting that United should always “attack, attack, attack” when playing at home.

Mourinho subsequently stripped Pobga of United’s vice-captaincy. Last week, before United’s 2-1 victory at Juventus, the midfielder insisted he was “happy” at Old Trafford.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola recently confirmed tensions had eased between Pogba and Mourinho, telling Rai Sport: “He has patched up his rapport with Jose Mourinho and is calmer now.

“He feels important to Manchester United, even if Turin remains in his heart.”
