Tottenham deadline day signing Pedro Porro’s shirt number has been confirmed following his arrival from Sporting Lisbon.

The wing-back move to the Premier League was final confirmed just 10 minutes before Tuesday evening’s deadline after a month-long negotiation between the two clubs.

Porro has signed on loan until the end of the season with an obligation to make the move permanent in the summer. The deal should total around £40million including the loan fee and then the cost to turn the move permanent.

The defender has been handed the no.23 shirt at Spurs, last worn by Steven Bergwijn and Serge Aurier but was notably worn by Christian Eriksen for six and a half years.

Moving further back, Carlo Cudicini wore the number as a goalkeeper for four and a half years, before midfielder Lewis Holtby’s brief stint at the club.

Sol Campbell will be, for some, the most famous wearer of the shirt number before his infamous switch to rivals Arsenal. Michael Carrick also wore it before a big-money move to Manchester United.
