Pedro's historic Europa League winner could be named goal of the tournament

Joao Pedro’s late winner which fired Albion into the Europa League knockout stages has been nominated for goal of the tournament.

The 88th-minute bullet into the top corner against Marseille which sparked jubilant scenes at the Amex is among the contenders to be named best of the year.

Pedro’s deft turn in the box flat-footed the Marseille defence and ensured Brighton continued their European journey in their historic season.

The Brazilian scored 20 times across all competitions with three assists.

Albion teammate Kaoru Mitoma missed out on the Premier League goal of the season for his superb solo effort against Wolves. The award was won by Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

The winger left defenders trailing, including those looking to foul him, before guiding home a precise finish at Molineux early in the season.

Julio Enciso won the award last season for his superb finish at the end of a sublime team move versus Manchester City.
