Philippe Clement insists he'll NEVER allow another top Rangers star to run down his contract during his time in charge.

The Ibrox boss faces a fight to keep John Lundstram as the midfielder enters the final weeks of his deal. Reports in Turkey have claimed that Trabzonspor have already agreed pre-contracts with both Lundstram and Gers teammate Borna Barisic, who is also a free agent in the summer.

Clement was unaware of those stories but has made it clear he's desperate to keep key man Lundstram at the club for next season. However, with negotiations over an extension dragging on for months, Clement says it's a situation that should have been avoided in the first place.

He said: "There have been offers from the club, but there is no agreement yet. I expect he has other offers, yes. I hope he stays. I know he loves to be here. It depends on what you can offer and what other clubs can offer.

"That is why I don't like that important players are at the end of contracts. It's not a good thing for a club. It is something that will never happen again in the period that I'm here, for sure."

As well as Lundstram and Barisic, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe and Jon McLaughlin are also nearing their contract expiries. While loan stars Abdallah Sima, Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva are due to return to their parent clubs.

Clement added: "Can these last six games affect somebody's future? Yes. Maybe somebody we could not count on enough last season plays the next six games and is the best guy on the pitch. It is silly not to give a contract. Everything is still possible. It is in their hands."
