Premier League: Mourinho 'to axe nine players' including Schweinsteiger and top youngsters

Jose Mourinho has reportedly axed nine Manchester United players, with Bastian Schweinsteiger and young stars Tim Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson high-profile casualties.

The Daily Mail says nine players have been told they can leave Old Trafford, on what the paper is describing as “clear-out Thursday”, with World Cup winner Schweinsteiger instructed to train with the youth team.

As noted by the Manchester Evening News, Germany captain Schweinsteiger and young players Andreas Perreira and Adnan Januzaj were notable absentees absent from first-team training at United’s training centre in Carrington.
