Premier League fixtures 2020/21 released: Champions Liverpool to host newly-promoted Leeds in opening round
Liverpool will host Leeds United in a battle of the Premier League and Championship champions on the opening day of the top-flight season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will begin the defence of their first English title for 30 years against a side who last month ended their 16-year exile from the world’s richest league.
Arsenal also face a promoted team with a London derby at play-off winners Fulham on the weekend of September 12, while fellow newcomers West Bromwich Albion welcome Leicester City.
As revealed by Telegraph Sport, Manchester United and Manchester City will kick off their own campaigns the following weekend at home to Crystal Palace and away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, respectively, as a result of their European exploits.
So will Burnley and Aston Villa, who have been paired with the Manchester clubs on the opening weekend in two postponed fixtures. Burnley will travel to Leicester on the weekend of September 19, while Villa will host Sheffield United.
As also revealed by Telegraph Sport, Chelsea and Wolves will begin their own seasons on Monday, September 14 after being given more time to recover from their own European campaigns.
The former travel to Brighton & Hove Albion and the latter to Sheffield United, with both fixtures scheduled to kick off at 8pm.
The remaining opening weekend matches will take place between September 12 and 13 once Sky Sports and BT Sport select games for live broadcast.
They include Tottenham Hotspur v Everton, West Ham United v Newcastle United and Crystal Palace v Southampton.
The Premier League has agreed with its UK broadcast partners to increase the number of matches shown live from 200 to 220 next season following the coronavirus crisis.
Of the additional live matches, 12 will be shown on Sky Sports, six on BT Sport and two on Amazon Prime Video. The BBC, which was awarded four games during Project Restart, will not receive any.

Leeds, West Brom and Fulham will all have a close eye on the fixture list. This is a special day for Leeds especially, after a 16 year absence from the top flight.
Fans will no doubt be eagerly searching for the Manchester United matches. A Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United also awaits while two fixtures against the leading sides in the country will feel novel in itself.

The Premier League has not been away long...
And it will be back soon enough! There are some fascinating plot lines for next season. The battle at the top of the league between Liverpool and Manchester City makes it an obvious set of fixtures to look out for.
However, a gentle run of matches at the start of the season could well propel another side into the mix.
07:17 AMThe Premier League fixtures to be announced at 9am
The Premier League fixtures to be announced at 9am
The Premier League will announce the 2020-21 fixtures today at 9am.
The delayed season is due to start on the weekend of September 12-13 after a seven-week break following the conclusion of last season, which was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Individual fixtures will be announced this morning, meaning teams can start making specific plans for the new campaign.
Manchester City and Manchester United are not expected to be involved in the first weekend of action as they were guaranteed 30 days of rest following the end of their European campaigns.
City crashed out of the Champions League on August 15 with United following suit in the Europa League 24 hours later.
As a result, their campaigns are likely to kick off a week later in the second matchday.
A Telegraph Sport exclusive revealed that Chelsea and Wolves have been given special dispensation by the Premier League to start the new season on Monday September 14, following their marathon campaigns.
Before the club's Europa League round of 16 tie with Olympiacos earlier this month, Nuno said: “I'm hopeful the Premier League will look at that and allow the teams involved a little bit more time, mainly because of the players.
“We know we have a tight schedule next season and they must be aware of the health of the players and take care of them.
“There will be problems because there won’t be a proper recovery. The players won’t be able to disconnect properly due to what has happened before. They will struggle to regain motivation for a new cycle and that requires time.
“If you look back at previous seasons, even with players involved in national teams, three weeks [of rest] is good, but I don’t think it’s going to be possible. Let’s wait and see.”
All will be revealed shortly.
